some memories are so poetic !

Dreaming…dreaming of the Past…. What was there, what was missing….comparing it with today what is there, what is missing.
And it all boils down to the point we are never satisfied. When we are in present we don’t realize to enjoy it but think of the Past, and when this will be past we will feel we missed this ….
Today also is one of those days that I am remembering some lovely poems or lines I have read or heard in the Past and that have touched me immensely.
Amrita Pritam has written somewhere
“जब मैं  कुंवारी थी, मेरे मन का एक कोना ब्याह गया, और जब मैं ब्याही हूँ तो मेरे मन का एक कोना कुंवारा ही रह गया ! “
Just imagine a young bride of 16 yrs age in a new sasural, under the supervision of her mother in law, meant to work in kitchen and not play with dolls anymore……. How true!
Some lines are just so magical; they have so much of meaning in them.
 Jai Shankar Prasad says
“वियोगी होगा पहला कवि…
आह से निकला होगा गान,
निकल कर आखों से चुपचाप
बही होगी कविता अनजान “
How do they find such words to say it in such a precise manner?
Then when Vinod tiwari says this in urdu you are left with no words but Wah ! Wah!

Than suddenly quite a contrast there is a pungent tone when Vaatsyayan Agyeya says this….

…so true of us human beings! I find it echoing in my mind……

Than a profound translation by Harivansh Rai Bachchan of a Poem written by Amitabh Bachchan, while Amitabh Bachchan was admitted in Breach candy hospital after coolie accident.

~~~~OUTSIDE -INSIDE ~~~~~
outside
Black
Granite ugly rocks
Turbulent mud-laden sea-
Dark frightening clouds hovering above-
inside
Whiteness, purity
Clean sheets, soft pillows
Gentle care, soft words
Solitude
And my agony-
–Amitabh Bachchan
Some poems just leave a mark in your mind, when I was young the next poem had quite an affect on me, not that I was in love…but this poem made me realize the magic of Poetry…
When I was one-and-twenty
I heard a wise man say,
‘Give crowns and pounds and guineas
But not your heart away;
Give pearls away and rubies
But keep your fancy free.’
But I was one-and-twenty,
No use to talk to me.
When I was one-and-twenty
I heard him say again,
‘The heart out of the bosom
Was never given in vain;
‘Tis paid with sighs a plenty
And sold for endless rue.’
And I am two-and-twenty,
And oh, ’tis true, ’tis true.
The Last line actually leaves sigh!!!!!
A.E. Housman (1859–1936).  A Shropshire Lad.  1896.
The next Poem again leaves a mark on you…. ..by Anoop Bhargav
अगले खम्भे तक का सफ़र
याद है,
तुम और मैं
पहाड़ी वाले शहर की
लम्बी, घुमावदार,
सड़्क पर
बिना कुछ बोले
हाथ में हाथ डाले
बेमतलब, बेपरवाह
मीलों चला करते थे,
खम्भों को गिना करते थे,
और मैं जब
चलते चलते
थक जाता था
तुम कहती थीं ,
बस
उस अगले खम्भे
तक और ।
आज
मैं अकेला ही
उस सड़्क पर निकल आया हूँ ,
खम्भे मुझे अजीब
निगाह से
देख रहे हैं
मुझ से तुम्हारा पता
पूछ रहे हैं
मैं थक के चूर चूर हो गया हूँ
लेकिन वापस नहीं लौटना है
हिम्मत कर के ,
अगले खम्भे तक पहुँचना है
सोचता हूँ
तुम्हें तेज चलने की आदत थी,
शायद
अगले खम्भे तक पुहुँच कर
तुम मेरा
इन्तजार कर रही हो !
One poem I was looking for, I couldnt find it…I had read it in my 10th…that was one amazing poem.
Than there were these lines which still come to my mind,  which I don’t know form a part of which poem, but they had come in my board exams as unseen passage :
अविश्वास नारी के प्रति नर का,
आखिर स्वामी है  वो घर का !
Some lines just leave a mork on you…there are numerous others which I remember, but it will take time for me to collect them…
    Nice write up.Would like to share my fav sonnet here(Pablo Naruda)
    I do not love you as if you were a salt rose, or topaz
    or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
    I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
    in secret, between the shadow and the soul.
    I love you as the plant that never blooms
    but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
    thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
    risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.
    I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
    I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
    So I love you because I know no other way
    than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
    so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
    so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.
    Keep Writing Jyoti !
